Design Engineer – Steam Turbines
 Job Location:Peterborough

Job Details
The Role:
To develop and issue Turbine designs for manufacture or procurement. These must meet Peter Brotherhood Quality Standards, Customer Specifications and International Regulatory Requirements.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:
* Execute design calculations to size and verify functionality of Steam Turbines for PBL proposals or contracts.
* Ensure created or existing designs comply with quality, safety, reliability, maintainability and cost targets.
* Review and improve mechanical design and control technology of PBL packaged Steam Turbines as required
* Issue design engineering data to initiate engineering drawings for manufacture or procurement
* Undertake design studies on PBL and competitor’s Steam Turbines as required including value engineering and cost reduction.
* Liaise with Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineers to ensure best control design practice
* Review and approve drawings, layouts, specification & sub supplier data
* Provide design activity status reports and estimated design timings for project schedules as requested
* Technically support Project Managers including site visits as required
* Schedule work to meet manufacturing and delivery targets
* Support Manufacturing team to resolve any issues
* Provide technical assistance to Sales, Applications, Spares and Service and new product development initiatives including site visits as required.
* Prepare or advise on order data sheets, specify and approve materials of construction

The Candidate
* Computer application and programming experience, including FE and CAD.CAM
* PC – Microsoft Office Products
* HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Have a background of gas compressors or already in a similar role.
* Design, operation and application experience in a capital goods design and manufacturing business
