| Due to emigration of a long-term member of our staff, a vacancy has arisen within the Technical Divsion of OpTex for a mechanical service engineer. The brief on this role is broad, encompassing daily routines such as the servicing and repairing of tripods, video heads, pedestals and Steadicam systems, to attending rental jobs to assist in the preparation and rigging of remote heads, dollies and similar technical systems. This position will suit someone from either a technical service or rental/grip installation background, who puts customer service and satisfaction first in all aspects of their job.
As the UK distributors of brand-leading systems including Sachtler, Steadicam and OConnor, OpTex has a first line responsibility to support owner/users of such systems, both in terms of back-to-base servicing/repairs and on-site problem solving. The suitable candidate will need to be able to work as part of a team, communicate well with colleagues at all levels and be able to work on their own initiative, often to tight deadlines, when required. OpTex will, in turn, support the position in terms of manufacturer training overseas, when required. This will be a key requirement in the early months particularly, as service training for Sachtler, OConnor and Steadicam will need to take place at the manufacturers respective service centres in Germany and the US.
The job entails working a 37.5 hour week, working as part of a technical team running specific hours from 07.30-4.00 Monday to Friday with occasional scope for overtime on site call-outs. The position is based at OpTexs premises in New Barnet, North London and the successful candidate must possess a full, clean UK driving licence and be prepared to use their own vehicle for occasional business travel with mileage paid at OpTexs prevailing rate/s.
Salary is in the region of £23-25,000 per annum according to experience and the position carries a standard entitlement of 20 days holiday per annum. |
