| Our client is currently looking for a contract C++ software development engineer for design / implementation of a GSM Base Station Controller. This is mainly protocol handling and network management agent software - very little GUI work. The primary platform is Windows 2000, with portability to Solaris, Linux. This is a real-time, event-driven, application, so a good understanding of threading, synchronisation mechanisms, timers, finite state machine implementation, message encoding / decoding is important. Experience of telecomms protocols is essential (ideally GSM, but otherwise protocols such as DECT, TETRA, SS7, Q.931, etc). At least 3 years of solid C++ experience is required.
